INVESTIGATE THE WORLD
Above all the topics that cause society to turn into a slight state of panic or commotion, sudden scares of health alerts that sweep a nation are one of the most concerning. In 9th grade biology, we had the opportunity to not only become familiar with social impacts that viruses cause, but how the viruses cause bad health through biology, going beyond the surface of what is presented through the media.
Although it is apparent that viruses like Ebola and the H1N1 affected the United States, it also affected other countries, and in some cases the average of people with viruses is/ was higher than in our small part of the world. In this project, we also based our research on how it affected a foreign country, in this case, Asia. Through this project I became aware of the broadness of diseases, how it can't specifically stay prevalent in a single country, but connect with different countries throughout the world. Because countries vary in medical and economic situations, even though the virus may be the same way, it may cause a smaller or bigger stir depending on the state of the country. The project overall allowed me to understand how differences may impact different countries and how it overall affects the world. |
